what can be done about all that spam chatter? n3v3r fear cheech'z got the sticky for the icky..
bind x "say !autistic mode: ^7chat messages ignored; echo chat messages ignored; cg_chatbox 0"
bind y "say !normal mode: ^7chat messages enabled; echo chat messages enabled; cg_chatbox 7000"
i put in the say commands so that peeps know you can't fuggin hear them. and i put in the echo command so that you can see it working.. you can just use the chatbox command of course but this is the fancy cheech method, enjoy!
*i never tried typing this up in console, so you might have to cut and paste these bindz directly into your jampconfig..

chump found a way to make it emulate kill tracker messages: insert a wait time of 250
eg:
bind x "say !autistic mode; wait 250; say ^7chat messages ignored; echo chat messages ignored; cg_chatbox 0"
gj man!

the shortest wait time allowed between messages is 158.2
I was bored >.<

yeah i *think* it determines the maximum amout of fps the game will run on ur comp. i'm fairly sure it also affects wait timing. thats why i asked teh jenneh what hers was. eg. if ur maxfps was 10 then the game would be mad choppy and 1 frame would be 1/10 of a second. in this instance the lowest wait time for messages would be maybe 15-20 (equaling 1-2 seconds) wait time where on the flip side if you had some sort of sick mulitple gpu crossfire setup you could probably run the game around 120 fps, there by lenthening the minimum wait time between messages to maybe 250-300 (but it would still be 1-2 seconds).

so basically if your fps is higher than max then it takes 85 frames for 1 second to pass which makes 90 frames 1 second and 5 frames worth of time?

that command controls what the max possible FPS you can get in game. You could set it to 300, but it won't reach that high unless your comp has the power to bring it that high. Ideally, 40 fps or higher is all you need. If you get like 100, you can tone down the how much work the game takes up by setting it to something lower, like 60.

the shortest wait time allowed between messages is 158.2 I was bored >.< I recently learned that wait times differentiate between people. Wait actually pauses you for a certain amount of frames. Example: wait 158; Makes you wait for 158 frames. Since I get about 80-90 fps, this is under 2 seconds. For some that gets like 15 fps, this would take about 10 and a half seconds. Sorry for the confusion if any of you used what I stated in the quote in a bind.

that makes a lot of sense cuz my wait times have varied highly

can't u tweak this by changing ur com_maxfps?

Well, say you have a low-end computer, that gets a max of 30 fps. Changing your com_maxFPS won't help this much at all, since you'd like every bit of those 30 frams per second. However for high end computers that get like 100+, just keep the com_maxfps at about 70-80, lower than 60 you can start to tell the difference in frames, so this is really all you need. Tweaking com_maxfps Could be used to let you have an increased wait time, I don't think it's ideal for decreasing wait time. That said, just times your average fps by 1.8 (for wait time between messages), and you should have an ideal wait time.
